A case of the crabs?

As some of you know (or may not know), I plan on opening a Rubber Stamping webstore sometime in September. While I do plan on bringing in well known products from such vendors as Gina K and Stampendous, I also thought it would be fun to offer my own line (albeit a small one) of rubber stamps. I have been working on a series of crabs that I think I may offer for sale. I’m not quite sure if they are marketable but they are really fun to work with.

Have your cupcake…

My muse often hides on me but I caught up with her today and made some quick cards.

A little blurb on my cupcake image, if I may. Impress Rubber Stamps had a cute little image very similar to the one on my cards and I had planned on ordering it. Unfortunately, the shipping cost was ridiculous – more than the stamp itself!  I was not detered but instead decided to use their image for inspiration in creating my own image. I know it’s not ’stamped’ but it sure looks like it was and I had a heck of a lot of fun drawing it.

You can see Impress’ version here

Here is my version:

Keep on cluckin’

Okay, so remember the post I made a few days ago about drawing a small series of farm faces? Well, they aren’t ready to be made into rubber but, still, I couldn’t let them go to waste. I needed to do something with them. I got to looking at the funny chicken face and then remembered that I had previously drawn a chicken wire background template for the users on my website. Ideas began manifesting and, before I knew it, I had completed a card totally composed of my own drawings. Imagine that – I was inspired by my own self. Check it out.

Feeling Creative

I woke up on this dreary, wet morning and was surprised to find that I was in a stamping mood! Hoorah! I started out thinking that I would get a jump on a few cards that I need for a swap but later decided that I would do something for me instead. Without the pressures of a swap looming, I wanted to see where my creativity would take me. I took a look around my cluttered desk and set eye on a few of my newest toys – a scalloped circle punch, a 1/16th hand punch, a giraffe stamp by ‘Amuse Art Stamps’ and some cuttlebug folders that my friend, Lisa, had lent to me. It was obvious- I was making baby themed cards today. I had such fun making the first one, in pink, that I decided a blue one was in order too.

Living in a small town

I am a city girl; born and raised and the prospect of moving to the country was a wee bit daunting for me. But, hey, this gal is always up for a challenge and I rarely let fear of the unknown hold me back.

I have been living in Pictou County for three years now and I gotta tell you, it’s really beginning to grow on me. Shopping aside, this place isn’t really all that bad. One of the nicest things about living in a small town is the fact that everyone knows you and greets you by name and with a smile. Sure, I can hear the cows mooing off in the distance and, sure, I can smell the scent of ‘country perfume’ for miles around but there is something quaint and lovely about this town. There are no traffic jams. There are no horns honking. In fact, there is no noise at all. My favorite place to be is on my front porch watching a sunset or a gentle rain fall – a place most of my partying friends would never dream of hanging out. But you know what? I am content. I am absolutely content with doing nothing at all.

A little humor for today.

This sign is currently posted outside of one of our local convenience stores. Mmmm, how appetizing! Worm flavored ice-cream!

Actually, the convenience store is located right next to a river in which locals like to fish. So, as a convenience to them, they have worms readily available. The sign makes me chuckle every time I pass by.

Father’s Day

Father’s Day is around the corner so I thought that I would prepare a little early. I had a set of those mini tools lying around and thought I would put them to good use in a masculine work apron/card. To acheive the denim look, I sponged ‘Night of Navy’ ink on to ‘Ballet Blue’ cardstock. The straps on the top of the apron were an after thought (thought of AFTER my sewing machine was put away) so they haven’t been stitched yet.

Nerd meets Artist?

For those of you that know me personally, you know that I am a first class nerd. I love computers. I love electronic gadgets. I love technology. However, I do enjoy the odd ‘girly’ activity and one that comes to mind is rubber stamping. Well, lately, I have got to thinking that I could possibly merge my two passions by desiging a small line of rubber stamps. There is, unfortunately, one obstacle that presents itself. I am not an artist – no way, no how. I cannot draw to save my life. If you were looking for a technical drawing, I could most definitely help you out. But ask me to draw something decent freehand? Ugh, no.

I was playing around with my new tablet for a few moments yesterday and I came up with three little ‘farm faces’. Cute enough to be turned into rubber stamps? No, of course not, but it definitely started my brain gears a cranking. I’ll keep you posted…

Making my blog debut!

Okay, okay, so I finally gave in and started a blog (like I haven’t got enough to do already). I promise that I will make every attempt to update this sucker as often as I can.

Peace.
